Over the past year and a half, tech workers have proven time and again that many of their jobs can be done remotely, and many find remote work gives them more flexibility, accessibility, and autonomy. But with an increase in vaccination rates, tech companies across the country are rolling out their plans to get workers back into the office, oftentimes overlooking or ignoring the wants and needs of their workers.
Workers at Apple recently pushed back against the company’s new policy that would require them to return to the office three days a week starting in early September. Through collective action, workers have pushed Apple to alter their plans. Until workers have a permanent seat at the table, collective action is the best way for tech workers to protect one another and get their voices heard.
