Tech 1010 Newsletter - Issue 45

Happy Autumn,

With the leaves beginning to change and spooky season setting in, we are preparing for the horrors of union busting to continue popping up. We know that the boss will often take whatever steps necessary to avoid negotiating a fair contract on equal ground with workers, and the new tricks we’re seeing at findhelp are a reminder that the fight is never over.

Just this past week, workers at findhelp had their NLRB hearing delayed by federal injunction (more on that below). Rather than respect workers rights to unionize and bargain, leadership at findhelp spent thousands of dollars to argue the constitutionality of the NLRB to adjudicate labor issues. We are having trouble squaring these actions with findhelp’s standing as a public benefit corporation, guided by their mission to improve the social safety net through better public-private collaboration.

Our members working to improve the social safety net at Nava PBC and Code for America know the power of having a union to strengthen their mission driven work. We are disappointed to see findhelp push so vehemently against workers’ rights, and we are eager to see attention focused back where it should be: settling a fair contract. Stay tuned for ways you can support workers in ending this circus to win their first contract.

In solidarity,

Danielle, Mary, and RV (your L1010 Organizers)
