Tech 1010 Newsletter - Issue 42
Happy June,
It’s Pride Month, and that means corporations are pinkwashing their brands in an effort to cash in, while others, like Target, have rolled back their pride displays and merchandise to capitulate to conservative pressure. Both strategies pretend to be based on company values, but they’ve shown us time and again that they value growth at all cost and profit over people.
It becomes increasingly clear that true progress cannot be measured by corporate displays or sensational headlines. It is found in grassroots movements and collective action. Through organizing, we use the simple and powerful principles of solidarity to transform the conditions around us, whether organizing labor unions, tenant associations, or mutual aid societies. We must see the value of each individual person and their unique contributions, while at the same time prioritizing collective care and the common good.
We cannot rely on corporations to care about us, but we don’t have to. We have each other.
Yours in solidarity,
Danielle, Mary, and RV
